Goodies Galore

It was not intentional, but I guess the theme for this week is pink and green. I made another t-shirt dress for Harper using a thrifted shirt that says " Some bunny loves you." The green t-shirt was one of mine.

The second dress or tunic I made was modeled after one of Harper's favorite tops from last year. I took a tank top from Old Navy, cut the bottom part off, and used one of my old t-shirts as the dress. I just cut it off under the arms. I cut a piece of elastic the size of Harper's waist. Then I put the pieces right sides together and pinned the elastic around both pieces. Then sewed over the elastic attaching the pieces together and gathering as I went. Makes sense, right?

I made these capri leggings out of another t-shirt, but they are way too small. I am not really sure what I was thinking. I might try to cut them off and make them shorts, but I think they may still be too short in the crotch. They would have been cute with the outfit if they had actually fit.

Not keeping with the pink and green theme, I finally made myself a lickety split bag. I have had this fabric since October. So it only took 6 months to get around to making it. I made the purse last night and it took me less than 2 hours. I really love these bags. I decided not to interface it and I was afraid it would be too flimsy, but it is actually the perfect weight . It also holds a ton of stuff.

Lickety Split Bag for Me

The last thing I have today is a pdf of two Easter cards I made for the kids to color for their teachers. It is not anything special. I used free clipart. I printed them on recycled card stock that I have on hand. I thought they turned out cute and the kids especially Harper love coloring these cards. I definitely plan on making more of these to have on hand.

A Walk in the Park

DSC_0770

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. We had gorgeous weather on Saturday so we were able to get some much needed yardwork done. Sunday was rainy, colder, and gloomy, but we still made it out for a walk in the park.

DSC_0780

Harper decided that it would be a perfect day to film a movie. I am still not really sure what the movie is about, but I am sure it will be spectacular.

DSC_0794

Harper was a born director. She kept letting Mitch know what he needed to film. She is a girl that knows what she wants. Big Dog came along too. He was a central character in the movie. I think.

If the movie ever gets produced, I will be sure to post it. I know you wouldn't want to miss it.

Let the Refashioning Begin

There was not much sewing going on again this week, but I did manage to squeak out a little refashion. I cleaned out my drawers a couple of weeks ago and have had this box of clothes sitting in my floor since then waiting to be refashioned. I see potential in so many things. My goal is to try to make my way through some of the clothes and make them into something I or the kids will actually wear.

This t-shirt was a little too big and not very flattering. So I never wore it. I was browsing Old Navy's website and saw these cardigans. I thought they were cute and perfect for the spring. So I riffled through my pile and found this t-shirt. I folded it in half and cut about 4 inches out of the middle. Then I cut that material into strips to make two longs strips. I ruffled them. Then sewed them to the t-shirt. Then I added a snap to the top. I didn't have enough material to go all the way around the neck, but I am still happy with how it turned out.

DSC_0740-edited_filtered

The picture doesn't do the t-shirt cardigan justice really. I made my husband snap this really fast as I was running out the door. The lighting in our house is horrible. Anyway, can't wait to refashion some more t-shirts.

Happy Crafty Tuesday everyone.

My Little Snaggle Tooth

DSC_0730

I think it is every kindergarten's dream to lose a tooth. Harper has been hoping for a loose tooth all year. Finally several weeks ago when she jumped off the school bus, she came running up to me beaming. She finally had a loose tooth. She wiggled and jiggled it. She was messing with that tooth constantly. Then last Thursday the nurse at school pulled it out for her. She was beyond excited.

DSC_0735

She was even more excited for the tooth fairy to come. Another milestone that makes me realize my baby girl is growing up way too fast.

More Kiss Me Shots

Here are a few shots I took of Miller on Wednesday when I was trying to decide on a shot for Team Up Thursday. Eventhough these did not make the cut, they were too cute not share. This little boy is stubborn, hard headed, ultra senstive, and all boy. I love him with all my heart.

DSC_0727

I love seeing the progression of these shots. In the shot above he is holding up the necklace so I can see it.

DSC_0728

Harper gets involved in the photo shoot. She tells him to smile for me, which he does so obediently. The fake smile wasn't really what I was looking for though.

DSC_0729

I ask him to just act normal. This is what I get. Well, actually that is about right. This one is a pretty normal Miller look. Silly little guy.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Team Up Thursday- St. Patty's Day

This week Cara and I decided on St. Patrick's Day as our theme, which sounded like a good idea at the time. However, in reality it meant we were both scrambling around at the last minute to get a shot. I carried my camera around with me all day waiting for the perfect St. Patrick's Day photo to present itself. Well, it didn't happen. I picked my son up from day care and he had St. Patrick's Day beads in his folder. I knew that was as good as it was going to get.

St Pattys Day

Cara's photo is actually more of what I had in mind. The lighting is perfect. Not too bad for waiting until the last minute, if I do say so myself.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Do you think there was a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow?

This shot has nothing to do with rainbows. Just wanted to show you my little monkey. She climbs up that pole like its nothing. It makes me nervous every time.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone.

Slip Sliding into a Slump

I am in a serious sewing slump. I want to sew. I have a million projects I want to tackle, but time has not been on my side. I have been having thoughts of closing up the Etsy shop and saying no to wholesale orders. The only thing that is stopping me right now is the fact that it is really slow so I have not been busy with orders. I have so many sweaters and other supplies taking up a bunch of space. It is driving me a bit crazy. Really the only things I have been wanting to sew are gifts or items for me and the kids. I am not completely there yet, but I am feeling the need to simplify my life.

On a more positive note, I did find a little bit of time to make this cape for my best friend's little boy. He turns 6 this week. Thanks Carrie for your cape inspiration. It's a little wonky, but I was pleased with it considering it was my first try. I used this pattern, but did not make the collar quite as wide. Of course, Harper wants one now, but she wants one that is sparkly. We will have to see.

TeamUp Thursday- Flare

This week Cara and I chose flare as our theme. Both of us had beautiful, sunny weather this weekend so it was perfect. I love that Cara captured the sun coming through the window. I don't think I have one window in my house that gets that much light even on the sunniest of days.

Flare

Yes, my children are in their bathing suits. You can read more about that here if you missed it. It was not entirely warm enough for bathing suits, but oh well. It was well into the 70's at least. If it is rainy and gloomy where you are today, hopefully this will brighten your day.

Buttercup Bag

I have been wanting to make this purse by Made by Rae for at least a year now. Mitch and I had date night on Saturday night so I had to have a new purse. I really wanted to make myself a new top, but there was not enough time for that. I knew I could get the purse finished pretty fast. I think I just needed to do something crafty and for myself. The majority of last week I spent my crafting time working on a wholesale order.

I really like how the purse turned out. I did not do a magnetic closure because I did not have one and did not want to make a run to the store. It really needs one though. I will definitely make another one. It comes together really easily and is so adaptable. I want to make a ruffly one next. Oh the possibilities.......

Bathing Suit Weather Already?

Well, it's not quite bathing suit weather yet, but it was gorgeous outside this weekend. We planned a trip over Spring Break so I bought the kids new bathing suits last week. Harper has been sleeping in hers every night. She wore it under her clothes all day yesterday waiting for an opportunity to strip down to just her bathing suit. Finally when Mitch decided to wash the cars, I told her she could run around in just her bathing suit. Miller quickly followed suit.

I am choosing this last shot as my Best Shot this week. It gives me hope that Spring is really right around the corner.

Team Up Thursday- Lunch

What's for lunch?

This week Cara and I chose Lunch as our theme. I say that we chose the theme, but in actuality Cara's son chose for us. She asked him what he thought our theme should be for this week and he said lunch. So there you go.

I went to the grocery store on Sunday. In an attempt to clean out some leftovers to make room for the fresh food, I set out a bunch of random foods for lunch. I couldn't resist taking a photo of the bright, colorful fruit bowl. Doesn't Cara's photo of the sushi roll look so yummy? Mmmmm.

Zippy Art Purse Tutorial

Zippy Art Purse Tutorial

DSC_0608

I spent all week working on this tutorial. It is 15 pages long and very detailed. I made two more this weekend with a couple of different variatons. The most time consuming part is cutting out all the pieces. Once that is done, it goes pretty fast. I have some more ideas for boys and also additional uses for the purse, but have not had time to work on those ideas-YET! I might eventually expand the tutorial and offer it in my shop, but for now it's free. I would love to hear your feedback if you decide to make one or if the instructions are unclear.
