Spring Break 2013

Yikes.  I can't believe it has almost been a month since I posted anything here.  Life has been busy and I have not had much motivation to blog.

I took last week off of work to spend time with the kids for Spring Break.  We did some stuff locally and then on Thursday and Friday we headed to Chattanooga.  We packed our two days there with all kinds of fun stuff.  I took tons of photos so I will just show you some of my favorites.

We started with a trip to Rock City.  If you are ever in Chattanooga, you must go there.  I can't believe this was my first time.

The next stop was Ruby Falls.  It was crowded so we had to wait in line for awhile.  The tour was long and a little boring, but the Falls were amazing.  

We spent the night at the Chattanooga Choo Choo.  We slept in one of the train cars.  It was pretty cool.

On Friday we ventured to the Aquarium.

We ended the trip with a Wild Cave tour at Raccoon Mountain.  We crawled and climbed around the cave for about 1.5 hours.  The kids had a blast.  We were covered in mud when we finished.

University of Tennessee Football Game

Mitch and I both graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  We have made it back for a few football games over the years, but have never taken the kids.  We decided they were probably old enough to enjoy a game.   So this weekend we took them to their very first game.  We all had a blast.

We got to Knoxville early enough to see the band make its way to the stadium.
 

We walked around a little bit before the game.  Harper was able to participate in a demonstration by the Physics department.

 

Then we made our way to Neyland Stadium.
 

The day started out a bit cold, but warmed up as the day went on.  We all had a great time. I was surprised that the kids never did get bored at the game.

 



I think we have decided to make this an annual tradition.

Back from the Beach

 Yikes!  I didn't mean to go missing for nearly 2 weeks.  We were at the beach last week with family, so I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.  Plus school starts back on Thursday.  I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the kids are going back to school THIS week.

Kentucky Trip

We spent a long weekend in Kentucky with extended family. 

We spent lots of time enjoying the great outdoors.

Weekend Trip-Asheville

Mitch and I had an adult only weekend getaway to Asheville, NC last weekend.  We haven't been away in several years, so it was nice to have some time with just the two of us.

Asheville has several breweries.

There are tons of cute shops.

We stayed right downtown, so we were able to walk to restaurants and shops.  There were several vegan and vegetarian friendly restaurants, which was very nice for me.

 

There was a drum circle in one of the parks on Friday night.  It was fun to watch all of the different people there to participate. 

If you haven't visited Asheville before, I highly recommend it.
