Hello there

I am just checking in since I have been a very bad blogger lately. I have not done any crafting or sewing since last week. Instead I cleaned out the kids closets, which gobbled up my sewing time. So there has been no progress on Harper's quilt. I did order a walking foot for my sewing machine to help with the quilting. Now I just need to do some practicing.

The half marathon is this weekend. Although I have not really trained at all, I am still going to do the race. There is no way I can run the whole thing, so I am just going to go out there and do my best. I am trying to let go of any time goals I had and just enjoy the race.

Since I can't have a post without photos, here are a few from this weekend. I only took a few. I think my camera might be lonely because she has not seen a whole lot of action lately.

Our new friend that is living in our yard. He actually let the kids get so close to him that they were able to touch him.

Fat Quarter Quilt- Part 1

I have started a really BIG project at least for me. I am attempting to make a quilt for Harper's new queen size bed. We bought a new bed about a month ago, so Harper got our old bed. I have been looking around at various places and just couldn't find anything that I really loved. Inspired by Carrie's quilts I decided to make a larger version for Harper's bed. I wanted something simple, modern, and colorful. I also wanted to use precut fabric, so I sketched out a plan using fat quarters. (Sorry in advance for the horrible photos.)

After looking at tons of fabric options, I settled on Kumari Garden.

I pre-washed the fabric. Then decided on a pattern. As you can tell the kids were very helpful during this process.

I pieced the fat quarters together in rows.

Then I made my quilt sandwich. I am using a queen sheet for the back and warm and natural for the batting.

I basted the quilt together with pins.

Now I just need to decide how I am going to quilt the thing. Any suggestions?

52 Weeks of Me- Week 16

This week our theme was Motion. I had visions of swinging or running, but once again the weekend got away from me. So I snapped this one really fast this morning. I am twirling, eventhough it looks like I am cutting a rug. : )

Miller was watching me like I was crazy.

Motion

Happy Monday everyone.

Our Little Slugger

We have been trying to get Miller interested in some sort of sport or activity for awhile now. He finally decided to give baseball a try. Here are some photos from his first game.

Yes, his ears are tucked into his hat and his pants are two sizes too big. I am not sure what is up with that smile either. It is how he smiles for me now. Ugh.

Warming up before the game. Mitch is one of the coaches.

Miller's first time up to bat. He used the tee the first game. They can use a tee or have the coach pitch to them. The coach pitched to him last weekend and he hit the ball to the fence.

He is really having fun. I am so glad he finally found something he enjoys. He also wants to play football, but I am not too sure about that. I guess we should get through baseball season first.

More Doll Clothes

Yesterday was my niece's birthday. She asked if I could make her more clothes for her doll for her birthday. So I had some fun putting together a few outfits.

This bathing suit was a trial run. So Patty (Harper's AG doll) has been wearing it.

My niece plays soccer and her team is red. I found a red jersey at Goodwill that worked out perfectly.

I made the back velcro all the way down so that it is easier to get on and off.

Here's the other bathing suit. I used bathing suits from Goodwill for both bathing suits.

DSC_0221

Of course she had to have a sarong to cover up, right?

DSC_0224

Then I made a tutu that can be worn over the bathing suit. I think it makes the bathing suit look like a leotard.

I also made a top and pants.

Someone got a little jealous that Patty was getting all the attention.

I found some crocs, soccer gear, and purse at Joann's that rounded out the gift.

I packed it all in this little suitcase that I found at Hobby Lobby.

Bon Voyage.

Happy Crafty Tuesday everyone.

52 Weeks of Me- Week 15

This week's theme was Out of Focus. I just set my camera on manual focus so that my remote wouldn't try to focus on me and snapped away. We had a beautiful weekend so I enjoyed a few minutes of relaxation on the deck while dinner was cooking away on the grill. Out of focus

It's never too late to join in on the fun.

52 Weeks of Me- Week 14

It only made sense to underexpose this week after overexposing last week. I am a day late getting this posted, but at least I finally got around to it, right? We went canoeing yesterday and I was exhausted when we got home.

Underexposed

I don't have anything for Crafty Tuesday this week. I am working on my niece's birthday present so I will definitely have something to show next week.

Spring Break in Louisville

Well, hello there. I know I have been a little MIA around here lately. I have been feelin' quiet. Last week we spent a couple of days in Louisville since it was Harper's Spring Break. So I have that as an excuse too.

So what is going on in the New Green Mama household? Well, not too much that is terribly exciting. I am still not running. Boo. I have tried a couple of times, but my hip is still really sore. The half marathon is in less than a month. I am thinking about walking it, but I am not sure how my hip will feel about that. I might try to do a long walk this weekend to test it out. Miller has his first baseball game tomorrow. He is going to be so cute in his little baseball uniform. Harper is OBSESSED with American Idol right now, which is fine with me. Now I have an excuse to sit down and watch it.

Ok. Here are some photos from our trip.

This was taken at the Mega Cavern .DSC_0179

We stayed in downtown Louisville so we were able to walk everywhere. This was right around the corner from our hotel.

We visited the Louisville Slugger museum. I thought the whole bat making process was pretty cool .

DSC_0148

Harper and Miller wanted to pose by every thing. So I have a lot of shots like this.

We also visited the Science Museum, Glassworks, and had a brief visit to the zoo. I won't bore you with all the photos, but if you want to see them they are on flickr.
