American Girl Doll Dress

I actually have something crafty to show today.  I made a birthday present for one of Harper's friends a couple of weeks ago.  She requested a dress made with lace.

I thought it was sweet that her friend wanted me to make her doll a dress.  The best part of it though was I did not spend a dime making it.  I used material I had on hand.  Gotta love that.

I used Simplicity 4786 as a starting point.

The back is velcro so it should be easy to get on and off.  I didn't get to see her open it, but Harper said she liked it.

American Girl Doll Clothes

One of Harper's friends had a birthday party on Saturday. When Harper asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she said doll clothes for her new American Girl doll. That is all the motivation I needed to get sewing. I love making these little outfits.

I created the pattern for the t-shirt. I wanted a simple tee that was only a couple of pieces. I used one of my old t-shirts so I didn't have to hem the bottom. I should have a tutorial up for it tomorrow.

The skirt is made from five 7 inch squares. I sewed them together then hemmed the bottom. The waist is elastic.

The peasant shirt and pants are from patterns that I already had.

I wanted all the pieces to be interchangeable so she can have 4 different outfit combinations.

See you tomorrow with the t-shirt pattern and tutorial.

Happy Crafty Tuesday!!

More Doll Clothes

Yesterday was my niece's birthday. She asked if I could make her more clothes for her doll for her birthday. So I had some fun putting together a few outfits.

This bathing suit was a trial run. So Patty (Harper's AG doll) has been wearing it.

My niece plays soccer and her team is red. I found a red jersey at Goodwill that worked out perfectly.

I made the back velcro all the way down so that it is easier to get on and off.

Here's the other bathing suit. I used bathing suits from Goodwill for both bathing suits.

Of course she had to have a sarong to cover up, right?

Then I made a tutu that can be worn over the bathing suit. I think it makes the bathing suit look like a leotard.

I also made a top and pants.

Someone got a little jealous that Patty was getting all the attention.

I found some crocs, soccer gear, and purse at Joann's that rounded out the gift.

I packed it all in this little suitcase that I found at Hobby Lobby.

Bon Voyage.

American Girl Doll Soccer Uniform

Harper's cousin, who also has the exact same American girl doll, recently got a soccer uniform for her doll. So Harper has been asking me to make her one for her doll, which is kind of funny since Harper only played soccer for one season two years ago. On Saturday I cleaned out her drawers and used the opportunity to transform her old uniform into one for her doll. I was afraid she wouldn't go for cutting up her old uniform, but she was all for it. I think it turned out pretty cute. Of course as soon as I was finished with the outfit, she wanted to know where the shin guards were.

I have been using Simplicity 4786 as the starting point for most of the doll clothes that I have made in case anyone is interested.

It felt good to do a little sewing even if it was just a doll outfit.

Happy Crafty Tuesday everyone.
