Little Miss Independent Part II

I actually got to witness the unassisted bike riding yesterday. She still needs help getting started, but she is riding with no training wheels. Of course, instead of being excited she was frustrated that she could not do it completely by herself. I had to remind her that this was only her second time even trying to ride the bike by herself. Patience is not her strong suit.

This little guy was lovin' all the open space of the parking lot. He zoomed around with no fear.

Then when no one was watching him, the little stinker would fake a crash. He did this multiple times and I finally caught him in the act. Poor thing is starved for attention I guess. Or maybe we have a stunt man in training on our hands.

Who knew a high school parking lot could be so much fun?

Radnor Lake Nature Hike

Last weekend was absolutely gorgeous. The temperature was perfect for a hike in the woods. So we packed up and headed to Radnor Lake.

They were a little tired by the end of the hike, which is not a bad thing. It was a wonderful way to spend the morning.

Guess What I've Been Doing?

I have been trying my best to get through that wholesale order I received several weeks ago. I was plagued by a stomach virus later in the week so my weekend was pretty much shot. I am feeling human again so hopefully I will also feel like being productive. Here's what I have done so far.

DSC_0837-edited

I did manage to find a little time on Sunday to sew up this taggie blanket for a baby gift I. I love making these things. I think because it is a pretty fast project. I get instant gratification.

Anyone else been crafty this week?

Little Miss Independent

DSC_0824-edited

Harper has only been in Kindergarten a week and it has already gone to her head. This girl thinks she can do anything. She wants to wait for the bus by herself. She wants to visit public bathrooms unassisted. She wants the training wheels off her bike. There is no stopping this little girl.

She has been really persistent about learning to ride her bike with no training wheels, so yesterday we gave it a go. She started in the grass with jeans on to cushion any falls. This did not prove very successful. After many, many falls and some tears she threw in the towel. She promised to try later.

Mitch was not going to let her quit that easy. So after naps he loaded up the kids and headed to a parking lot. She finally started getting the hang of it. I think after a few more training sessions she will be riding with no problem. Her confidence and determination never ceases to amaze me.

My Little Bus Rider

DSC_0818-edited_filtered

Harper has been begging us to let her ride the bus. So we decided to let her. She was so excited and ready to go with backpack and all 45 minutes before the bus actually arrived. She was really afraid she was going to miss the bus.

DSC_0820-edited_filtered

She never even looked back. I did not even get a little wave.

Sigh. Excuse my while I go dry my tears.

Bridal Shower Pillowcase

I travelled out of town for a bridal shower this weekend. The bride-to-be is a friend from High School. I wanted to make her a little something to add a more personal touch. I saw this idea to embroider pillowcases. I thought it would make a cute gift paired with a gift card.

I bought a set of pillowcases. I washed and dried them. I found a font I liked (Sexy Sara) and printed out the wording. I used transfer paper to trace the wording to the pillowcase. Then I embroidered it.

This was on one side.

I am not sure my friend got it at first, but everyone else did.

Here's the fabric headband and pin that I made a couple of weeks ago. I used one of my favorite headbands as a pattern. I love it and have been wearing it nonstop. I need to make a couple of more.

Birthday Craftiness

I was actually pretty productive last week. If only I had remembered to take pictures of everything I would have been doing good.

My sweet little niece turned one yesterday. Her party was on Sunday. As part of her gift, I made her a pillowcase dress with bloomers. I also appliqued a cupcake on the front. This was my first time and I was surprised at how easy it was to do.

I also made a bunting using the fabric scraps from the outfit. I wanted to make one of these for Harper's birthday, but ran out of time. So I was excited I had an excuse to make one.

I also made a little doll for her. I modified a Bit of Whimsy doll pattern that I have used before. I was trying to make it a learn how to dress doll so one side has snaps and the other side has a zipper. On the side with the zipper the doll is awake (sorry I did not get any photos). The straps on the shoes also velcro.

I finished a couple of custom orders for some cozies. I also made a frayed flower brooch using this tutorial and a matching fabric headband for myself. I will try to get photos of those for next week. Now I just need to start working on a huge wholesale order and a wedding shower gift. Man, I am tired just thinking about it.

Fun At The Fair

The County Fair is in full swing so we stopped by on Saturday night to take part in the festivities. The kids were beyond excited. Harper has no fear and wants to ride EVERY ride. Unfortunately she is not quite tall enough yet for all the rides.

DSC_0583-edited_filtered

My niece on the other hand was not quite as impressed.

Miller did better this year. He was a little less cautious and seemed to enjoy the rides.
