Home

This week Cara and I chose home as our theme. We both had visions of outdoor shots on the patio or in the yard, but both ended up with completely different shots.
Cara photographed the home key on her keyboard. How creative is that? I love those sweet little kid fingers too.
I photographed a photo wall we constructed last weekend. I have grand plans to actually put photos in frames, but I want to collect them from thrift stores and paint them. So it will be awhile before it is completed. In the meantime I ran two wires along the wall and we used clothespins to attach the photos and drawings. The kids were very excited to arrange the photos and to see their drawings hanging on the wall. I love that we can easily change out the photos or artwork. It is so fun to put these type of personal touches in our home. Afterall that is what makes it feel like home, right?

More PJs Shorts

I finished another wholesale order last week. I made two owls and 10 coffee cozies for The Good Cup in Franklin. I did manage to photgraph the owls, but not the cozies.

I also finished a couple more pj shorts for Harper. For the first pair, I just cut off the legs of a pair of leggings that had holes in the knees. Then added some stretch lace. Ta-da.

For the second pair, I used a t-shirt I had in my stash. I used the hem of the shirt for the hem of the shorts and added a wider stretch lace to the top. Easy peasy. I finished both pair in about 30 minutes. Can't you tell stretch lace is my new best friend.

I refashioned a dress into a skirt for me, but did not take photographs. It was just a matter of cutting off the top part of the dress and adding a little elastic to the waist to make it a skirt. Then I fixed some tank tops that were to big for Harper. I am finally making a little progress on my to-do pile.

Happy Crafty Tuesday everyone.

Surprise

This week for Team-Up Thursday Cara suggested that we use a photo that we took the week before that was our favorite shot or a shot that we didn't realize we had gotten. I loved the idea. The only problem was I didn't pick up my camera last week. However, I did mess around with a different camera. My husband has been wanting to get a waterproof point and shoot for canoeing trips. Plus we are going to the beach in a couple of weeks.....and his birthday was last Friday. Anyways, we bought an Olympus Stylus. Megan's shots inspired me a couple of weeks ago. It's nothing fancy, but it is waterproof so we thought it would do the trick.

On Sunday we headed out to go canoeing. On the way to the river I played around with the camera a little bit, but not enough to figure out all the settings. Once on the river we made a stop to play in the water and grab a snack. I tried taking some underwater shots, but the water was too cloudy. Then I placed the camera in the water, but the lens was above the water and snapped a few shots. While previewing the photos on the camera, I was not impressed. I was starting to feel like this purchase was a bad idea. When I got home and loaded the photos on the computer this shot jumped out at me. The photo was clear and the color was perfect. It's not my favorite photo necessarily, but since it pleasantly surprised me I decided to use it this week. It gives me hope that I (or my husband) can get some decent shots with this camera.
There are so many things I love about Cara's photo. How it is framed. The little water droplets on Nicolo's face. The wide open mouth with a hint of a smile. Once again, we both have water related shots, which I think is pretty cool.

Sheet to PJ Shorts

I don't have too much to show this week. I didn't get around to those birthday presents. I did manage to make some pj bottoms for Harper last week. I also made a couple of pillowcases for my nieces, but once again forgot to take a photo. I made the pj bottoms from a thrifted knit sheet. I used the finished edge for legs so that I did not need to hem them. Gotta love that. I think these took me all of 20 minutes from start to finish. I bought some stretch lace that worked out perfectly. I need to work on the fit a little bit, but as you can tell from the photo she has been wearing them. I actually pulled them out of the dirty clothes hamper to get a photo.

Here's a closeup of how I attached the stretch lace.

I have really been itching to make several more because Harper is in need of pjs, but I have a wholesale order to finish first. So much for taking the summer off, huh? We are planning a vacation in a couple of weeks and I just can't refuse the mony right now.
Happy Crafty Tuesday everyone.

The 4th of July

This week Cara chose 4th of July as our theme. I thought that would be a perfect theme since we had a long weekend full of celebrating. I really wanted to get a shot of some big fireworks. I don't know how many shots I took. I never really got that money shot, but I did like how this one made the sky look red.

Don't you just love Cara's bokeh? I think it is the perfect 4th of July shot.

It's Just Another Crafty Tuesday

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend. We sure made the most it.

Last week's free time was spent making these two guys. The last two I made for a shop here locally sold really fast so she requested a couple more. The owls have quite of a reputation at the shop. The person I sell them to always lets me know where they go to live. It is fun.

Owls

I snuck away on Friday afternoon for some thrifting at Goodwill. I lucked out and found a bunch of different fabric. I usually find sheets or pillowcases. Rarely do I find fabric. I felt like I had hit the jackpot. I found the blue fabric below and thought it would be perfect for the Fourth of July. I already had the red polka dot fabric from Christmas. I had planned on making a shirt, but Harper requested a skirt. It worked out better because I was short on time. The skirt was easy to throw together.

Don't you just love the natural pose?

I have a couple of birthday presents to make. Hopefully I will get around to those this week so I will have something new and different to show next week.

Happy Crafty Tuesday!!

Summer- Team Up Thursday

This week Cara and I chose Summer as our theme.

Summer

I love that we both chose water shots that involved our little ones.

This was the photo I was going to use. I love the little gnat on the flower. To me these daylilies are very much a part of summer now. We have a ton of these in our yard and the pop of color makes me happy.

Then my husband set the sprinkler out to water our plants. We use the rain barrel for the vegetables and herbs, but it has been so hot here that everything needed some water. I couldn't resist snapping some photos (79 to be exact) of the kids playing in the sprinkler.
