New Twist

This week I took my two favorite things to make and put a new twist on them. I had a custom order for an owl. It is going to be a shower gift so I decided to make it a little more baby friendly.

I took the fused plastic sheet that I made a couple of weeks ago and made a coffee cozy with it. It is lined with felted wool. I liked how it turned out.

Crafty Tuesday-Monkies, Doll, and A Skirt

We made it back from our vacation. We had a nice relaxing week at the Jersey Shore with friends. Can't beat that. We vacationed with my best friend from College, her husband, and their 3 kids. I made a couple of gifts for the kids before we left on our trip.

I made a Molly Monkey for my friend's 4 year old daughter. Harper insisted on one for herself. I couldn't resist especially since the first one I made her looks really pathetic now. I ran out of corduroy so I used a brown polka dot fabric that I had picked up in the remnant bin awhile back. The rest of the fabric I used was scraps and stuff I had on hand.

For the youngest I made a baby doll and blanket. I used scraps and fabric I had on hand for this one too.

For my friend's 5 year old son I made a furry monster, but somehow forgot to take a picture. I could have sworn I took one, but if I did I can't find it. Oh well.

On Saturday, I threw together an outfit for Harper for 4th of July. She was napping so I winged it on the measurements. The waist was a little tight, but the length was perfect. I sewed little bows to an existing tank top to pull it all together. Again, I just used stuff I had on hand. It felt good to use up some of my stash.

Exciting News

Many, many months ago I showed you these guys (Sunshine, Flowers, and Patches). I told you that they went on a journey, but I didn't tell you where. Well, now I have evidence to show you where they have been. (Sorry about the dark photos.)

These guys make an appearance in the latest addition of Stuffed Magazine. My copy showed up in my mailbox on Friday. It was so surreal to see my little creations in print. I am not sure when it will be available in book stores, but I would say pretty soon.

My coffee cozies are going to make an appearance in the new GreenCraft magazine available in August. I will post more about that when I have more to show you. Pretty exciting stuff, huh?

I have actually been sewing up a storm this week, but thought I would space it out. Besides, I thought Crafty Tuesday would be a perfect day to share my crafty news!!! Visit Carrie for more crafty goodness.

Bunnies- Take 2

Ok, I really tried to make some cute bunnies, but again I did not succeed. I think it might be a sign that I need to stick to owls and birds. Originally I wanted to make several to put in the shop, but I think I might just buy this pattern when she gets it up. Then I can make a couple for Easter presents.

The local coffeehouse put in another order for 25 coffee sleeves. So I am going to be busy filling that order. Plus I have a couple of birthday presents to make. I think I have plenty to keep me busy. Sorry bunnies. I really thought we had a future.

I didn't completely finish this little guy. I personally think it looks more like a dog, but whatever. Sigh. I am really over bunnies.

I have a couple of gadget pouches and another coffee sleeve going up in the shop later today. I just need to find a couple of minutes to list them. Here's my first attempt at a hedgehog.

Meet Molly & Joey

Last week Felt-o-rama left a comment on my Felt Food post. After reading the comment, I clicked over to the blog. This free pattern was on her front page and I knew I had to try it. I had to purchase brown corduroy and the furry fabric, but everything else is recycled. I used some of Harper's old tights that were stained for the socks. I also used an old shirt and bike shorts for the body and sleeves. I definitely think that made it more special to her. For the other one I used a felted wool sweater for the legs, and scraps from two of my brother's old shirts.

Please don't pay attention to the fact that Molly's arms are a little wonky. I worked out most of the kinks with Joey.

And I had to include the shot of Molly getting fresh with Joey. I did not notice the wandering arm until I uploaded the shots to the computer.

Miller had to get in the shot. You know since I did not want for him to be in the shot. He actually said, "Mom, take my picture." Aaahhhh. What do you do? I am sure next time I want to take his picture he will be cooperative. Yeah right, I know.

Eventhough it took me FOREVER to finish these little boogers. I had a great time figuring it all out.
